Stonehill College is a private institution founded to further the goals embodied in the Holy Cross tradition of higher education. An essential element in the Holy Cross tradition is acceptance of the primacy of the search for truth among the concerns of an academic community.

Since the search commands that the freedom of inquiry be protected, the free exchange of ideas is a principal objective of the College. As part of its efforts to maintain an environment in which such freedoms can thrive, the College recognizes an obligation to identify and sustain the intellectual and moral values that define an open and effective marketplace of ideas. Stonehill College reserves the right to reschedule or relocate the presentation or, in rare instances, to cancel the event if it determines the controversial nature of an invited speaker may pose safety concerns for either the College community or the speaker
