S1.25 Missing Student

Effective Date: July 16, 2019
Last Reviewed: June 8, 2023

If a member of the College community has reason to believe that a student is missing, Campus Police should be contacted immediately at 508-565-5555. An incident report will be generated, and an investigation will be initiated in order to attempt to locate the missing student. Campus Police maintains a detailed and specific protocol for conducting missing persons investigations, which can be made available upon request.

If Campus Police determines that a student is missing and has been missing for more than 24 hours, the Easton Police Department, the police department of the community where the missing student maintains a home of record, and the person designated as the student’s emergency contact will be notified no later than 24 hours after the student is determined to have been missing. If the missing student is under the age of 21, a missing person notice will be posted on the national crime investigation center database. If the missing student is under the age of 18 and is not an emancipated individual, Stonehill will notify the student’s parent or legal guardian immediately after Campus Police has determined that the student has been missing for more than 24 hours.

When annually registering names of emergency contacts in the online registration process, students will have the option to confidentially identify an individual to be contacted by Stonehill in the event the student is determined to be missing for more than 24 hours. If the student has identified such an individual, Stonehill will notify that person no later than 24 hours after the student is determined to have been missing for 24 hours.
