Effective Date: June, 22 2012
Last Reviewed: June, 22 2012

The College shall reserve the right to deny reappointment to a person, for cause or no cause, during his/her term renewable or probationary period without the need of detailing the reason so long as it adheres to the time limits on advance notice specified here. Notice of non-reappointment, or intention not to recommend reappointment should be given in writing in accordance with the following A.A.U.P. Standards for Notice of Non-Reappointment (1964):

  1. Not later than March 1 of the first academic year of service, if the appointment expires at the end of that year; or, if a one-year appointment terminates during an academic year, at least three months in advance of its termination.
  2. Not later than December 15 of the second year of academic service if the appointment expires at the end of that year; or, if an initial two-year appointment terminates during an academic year, at least six months in advance of its termination.
  3. At least twelve months before the expiration of an appointment of two or more years in the institution.

The above schedule of dates of A.A.U.P. notification does not apply to college staff even though they have faculty rank. If a person wishes to decline renewal he/she shall give notice no less than three months before the end of his/her contract termination date.
