E3.10 Employment Eligibility Verification

This Policy shall at all times be applied consistent with the requirements of state and federal law including, but not limited to, the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 and the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

All new employees must produce acceptable documentation to work in the United States and complete the I-9 verification form with the Office of Human Resources within the first three (3) days of employment.

All re-hires who were separated from the College for twelve (12) months or longer must also produce acceptable documents to work in the United States and complete the I-9 form with the Office of Human Resources within the first three (3) days of re-employment.

Foreign nationals will be considered for employment if they can demonstrate that they are authorized for employment in the U.S. or will be authorized on their start date. Supervisors or managers who wish to employ a foreign national must notify the Office of Human Resources before an offer is extended. The Office of Human Resources will consult with the Office of the General Counsel as to the likelihood that employment will be authorized and will then inform the supervisor or manager as to whether an offer will be made.
