E3.5 Recruitment Process

The recruitment process is designed to assist departments in obtaining qualified candidates for open positions.

This Policy shall at all times be construed consistent with state and federal nondiscrimination laws, including, but not limited to, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Pay Act of 2009, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and its revisions of 2008, the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and the Massachusetts Fair Employment Practice Law.

Recruitment Guidelines:

Authorization to hire: Authorization is required as an initial step in the recruitment process for any new or modified position.

Job Postings: Jobs are posted for 5 business days. Posted positions can be found on the Stonehill website at www.stonehill.edu/hr. When internal candidates have been identified for promotion, or as part of a departmental reorganization, a position may not need to be posted. Please contact the Office of Human Resources for specific guidelines. In some situations, where an unforeseen vacancy occurs, the divisional vice president in consultation with the President may appoint someone to a position temporarily or permanently.

Advertising: A representative from the Office of Human Resources will partner with the hiring supervisor to review and develop the advertising plan. The plan will include advertising sites, publications and other media sources as appropriate. The Office of Human Resources will take responsibility for the placement of advertisements.

Search Firms: The decision to use a search firms must be approved by the appropriate divisional vice president and the President of the College.
