Stonehill College will conduct background checks on final candidates. The following is a non-exhaustive list of the types of background checks the College may conduct on potential new hires:

1. Criminal Background

2. Criminal Offenders Records Index (CORI)

3. Motor Vehicle

4. Social Security Trace

5. Educational Verification

6. Pre-employment physicals

7. Pre-employment drug screens

8. Psychological Test

9. Sexual Offender Registry Index (SORI)

When required, the Director of Human Resources or designee will consult the College’s General Counsel to review information obtained via the background check. If necessary, the Director of Human Resources or designee will rescind a conditional offer of employment. Due to legal requirements the only individuals authorized to receive/review results from backgrounds checks include members of the Office of Human Resources and attorneys within or retained by the Office of the General Counsel. All results are strictly confidential and are filed separate from the personnel files in a locked and secured area in the Office of Human Resources until destroyed consistent with the requirements of the College’s records retention policy and retentions schedule.
