S7.2 Sportsmanlike Conduct

As stated by the NCAA, all student-athletes, coaches, and staff representing Stonehill are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and sportsmanship at all times. Stonehill College student-athletes, coaches, and staff are required to adhere to all sportsmanship and conduct policies as provided by the NCAA, Northeast Conference(NEC) and other conferences or organizations of which Stonehill athletic teams are members. Sportsmanlike conduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • communicating appropriately with officials, coaches, opponents, teammates, or spectators during athletic events
  • maintaining control during emotionally charged situations, including assisting a student-athlete who appears to be losing control
  • reacting in a positive manner to an aggressive action by an individual or a group

Unacceptable behavior on the playing field includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • physical or verbal abuse of officials, coaches, opponents, teammates, or spectators
  • inciting players or spectators to negative actions or to any behavior which insults or defiles an opponent’s traditions
  • use of obscene or otherwise inappropriate language or gestures
  • participation in any action which generally violates recognized standards of intercollegiate athletic participation
