E3.2 Employee Classification

Unless another policy provides an expanded or narrower definition, the following definitions shall apply to employee categories as indicated within Stonehill College policies consistent with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA):

Non-Exempt:

Employees who are eligible to receive overtime compensation in accordance with the FLSA based upon their salary or duties. Hourly paid employees and bargaining unit members fall within this designation.

Exempt:

Employees who are not eligible to receive overtime compensation in accordance with the FLSA based upon their salary or duties. Salaried employees, including faculty members, fall within this designation.

Full time:

Employees who are regularly scheduled for 35 hours or more per week.

Part-time:

Employees who are regularly scheduled for less than 35 hours per week.

Temporary: Employees who work for a specified period of time to complete a given task/assignment.

Calendar Year: Employees who work 12 months per year.

Academic Year: Employees who work at least 39 weeks per year.
