E3.32 Jury Duty

Effective Date: August 30, 2019
Last Reviewed: August 30, 2019

Stonehill College will compensate employees for the first three (3) days of full service jury duty. The College may pay the difference between the court fees and the employee’s regular base rate up to 30 days per calendar year for an employee who has been summoned to serve on a jury. Employees must present evidence of juror serves to the Office of Human Resources along with payment from the court. Employees are expected to report to work on any day their juror service is cancelled.

If an employee is called for jury duty or required by court order or court summons to appear in court as a witness (not as a plaintiff or defendant, unless as a defendant in a suit in which the College and the employee are both defendants), the College may pay the difference between the regular base pay and the amount received from the court, for the first three (3) days of jury duty or court ordered appearance. The College may also pay the employee for time spent in court as a witness in a matter involving the College.
