S7.20 Tailgating at Athletic Events

Effective Date: June 27, 2017
Last Reviewed: July 11, 2023

This policy is designed to set forth allowable activities for parents, alumni, staff, and visitors who engage in tailgating in conjunction with an athletic event on campus.

Tailgating may include the consumption of alcohol in designated controlled areas and/or alternative areas designated for events where larger crowds are anticipated. Stonehill College does not sanction the violation of federal, state, or local laws, including the consumption/possession of alcoholic beverages by underage persons.

Individuals participating in tailgating activities are expected to conduct themselves in a manner respectful of the nature and character of the College, including following directives of campus authority personnel. Tailgating hosts may be held responsible for the behavior and actions of their party, and persons acting in a disruptive, disrespectful, or disorderly manner may be asked to leave the premises or may be subject to arrest. Students in violation of policies may also be charged through the College’s Community Standards.

Further procedures and guidelines related to tailgating are posted on the Athletics website and are maintained and reviewed by the College in consultation with the Department of Athletics.
